Michael Beaton (born 26 October 1988) is a former Australian ice hockey player who played for the Melbourne Ice in the Australian Ice Hockey League between 2008 and 2010 and represented Australia at the 2010 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships ==Playing career== Michael Beaton first played for the Melbourne Blackhawks of the Victorian Senior A league in 2005. He continued to play exclusively for the Blackhawks until the end of the 2007 season. In 2008, he moved up to the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) as well as remaining with the Blackhawks. During his first season in the AIHL he played 18 games, scoring three goals and recording four assists. Beaton also joined the Victorian State team to compete in the 2008 Brown tournament (23 & under) for which he has played one game.〔 The following season Beaton on played six games for the season scoring two points. In 2010 Beaton signed for his third season with the Ice, competing in 23 games for the season however he only managed to record three points. The following year Beaton left the Ice and re-signed with the Melbourne Blackhawks for the 2011 Victorian Premier A season however he didn't play a game for the team during the entire season. Beaton was first called up to represent Australia in 2005 where he joined the national under-18 team to compete in the 2005 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III tournament being held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Australia finished first, gaining promotion to Division II while Beaton recorded four points four the tournament. Beaton again represented the national under-18 team the following year at the 2006 IIHF World U18 Championships. In 2007 Beaton was called up to represent the national under-20 team at the 2007 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Miercurea-Ciuc, Romania. Australia finished last and was relegated to Division III. The following year at the 2008 IIHF World U20 Championship Division III tournament Beaton recorded 12 goals and nine assists to finish second in the overall scoring at the tournament. In 2010 Beaton was called up to represent the national senior team at the 2010 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Mexico City, Mexico. Australia finished second while Beaton recorded four points in his five games at the tournament.
